Need Confirmations about Prophecies and Factions DEMO. - Guild Wars Forums

I recently got the Guild Wars: Nightfall Pre-Release pack which includes a 14-Day DEMO of Prophecies & Factions. I gave the serial to a friend for a test trial of the game and he was interested. However we're not sure if the DEMO character could be kept or will it be deleted? Does he need to get either Prophecies or Factions before the trial days end? Or will the character be locked temporarily until he buys the game at his own pace?
